Lapindo, Novus abandon E. Java Grati 1 well

Australian oil and gas company Novus Petroleum Limited said on Wednesday that Grati 1 exploration well in Brantas production sharing contract (PSC) onshore East Java was plugged and abandoned after failing to recover hydrocarbon from the most prospective intervals.
Lapindo Brantas, the block?s operator had earlier deepen the well from 853 meter to 1,036 meters following a promising gas shows being observed in the well.
Novus and Lapindo Brantas hold equal participating interest in Brantas PSC. (alex)
