PT North Sumatra Hydro Energi plans to develop a 510 MW hydro power plant in South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra, which will be the largest on Sumatra Island.
Company Director Budi Susilo was quoted by Analisa daily as saying Thursday that investment for the project is estimated at about Rp 20 trillon.
He expected the public to support the project so that the power plant can start operation in 2019 or 2020 to help ensure sufficient power supply in the province.
Budi added that the company had acquired about 400 hectares of land for the project. He did not say when construction will be started. Talks are still ongoing with state-owned power firm PLN over the power price, he said.(*)
