The East Kalimantan legislative council plans to evaluate the existence of its special team on PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) following accusation that the team had gone too far in performing its task, the Kompas daily reported Wednesday.

Deputy speaker of the provincial legislative council Kasyful Anwar said that since KPC had basically agreed to divest up to 51 percent stake to the East Kalimantan administration, the existence of the special team might no longer be needed.

He said that the team had no mandate to be actively involved in the negotiation of the KPC share price. He said that the price negotiation should be fully handled by the administration.

Kasyful has been always critical about the role of the special team.

Meanwhile, head of the special team Agus Tamtomo said that the team had not yet completed its mission because East Kalimantan had not yet obtained the KPC shares.

The two sides have not yet reached agreement on the price of the KPC shares.(*)
