Leighton gets $350m E. Kalimantan coal mining contract

Australian construction firm and mining service provider Leighton International has been awarded a US$350 million contract for the expansion of mining services at PT Mahakam Sumber Jaya?s (MSJ) coal mine in East Kalimantan
The expansion, extending over five years, will commence immediately and be completed in April 2013, the company said in a release Wednesday.
The new contract includes the removal of overburden, the loading and transportation of coal from the mine site to the port, and maintenance of the mine?s haul road.
The company have been mining for MSJ since 2004.
MSJ has a crusher and load-out facility on the Mahakam River. The mine is part of Tanitocoal Group?s expansion plans and is located approximately one and a half hours drive from Samarinda, East Kalimantan on the northern side of the river.(denny)
