Australian listed construction firm Leighton Holdings Limited reported Thursday that its Indonesia-based operation had posted operation revenue of A$478 million in the first half of 2003, slightly up from $469 million in the same period of last year.

?Indonesia continues to be a major contributor from the Asian region and work in hand has remained strong at $680 million. Thiess Indonesia?s contract coal mining activities performed solidly at the Satui and Senakin mines (PT Arutmin Indonesia) while work at the Kideco mine is largely completed,? said Leighton in a statement to the Australian Stock Exchange.

PT Thiess Contractors Indonesia is a unit of Australia?s Thiess Contractors Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leighton.

Leighton also reported that Thiess Indonesia had recently secured a $48 million contract from PT Kaltim Prima Coal for coal mining work at the Melawan Pit, East Kalimantan.

Aside from mining activities, Leighton is also involved in some civil works in West Java and West Nusa Tenggara. (robert)
