Leighton wins RI contract

Leighton Asia, through its wholly owned subsidiary PT John Holland Constructions Indonesia, has been awarded a five year AS$100 million contract for mining operations at the ABK Loajanan coalmine in East Kalimanta from PT Anugerah Bara Kaltim.
Under the contract, Leighton is responsible for the open cut mining of 6.7 million tons of coal over the five year period, the company said in a statement.
"The scope of work also includes the removal of overburden, the loading and transportation of coal from the mine site to the processing plant and stockpiles, and maintenance of the mine's haul roads.
The project will commence immediately and is scheduled for completion by January 2006. (*)
