Lembe Island to become new mining site

The Bitung administration in North Sulawesi plans to make the Lembe Island to become a new mining site because of its huge gold reserves, the local Berita Telegraf daily said Friday.

The paper quoted head of the Bitung mining office Turangan AE as saying that the new mining site would help boost local administration revenue.

?We want the public to know that this (the Lembe Island) will become one of the new mining sites,? Turangan said.

But he did not provide details.(*)
