Coal mining company PT Lembuswana Perkasa will lower its coal production by about 30 percent this year from 2 million tons last year due to the current downturn in the global coal market.
?Due to the unfavorable market situation and regulatory uncertainty (at home) we have to lower production from last year?s level,? a source told Petromindo.com in Surabaya on Thursday.
The source said that China and India remain the company?s main markets. ?However, the company are still committed in fulfilling the Domestic Market Obligation,? he said.
The company has concession areas of about 1,800 hectares in Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan. The concession area has coal reserves with calorie value of 4,200 kcal/kg.
