LEN sets up JV with Sunseap Enterprises

Indonesia?s state-owned PT LEN Industri signed on Wednesday an agreement with Singapore?s Sunseap Enterprises Pte Ltd to set up a joint venture firm called PT Len Sunseap Energy to produce solar photovoltaic modules.

The joint venture will set up a US$5 million manufacturing facility at the Batamindo industrial complex on Batam Island to produce PV modules with capacity of up to 50 MW, extendable to 200 MW, said LEN President Commissioner Arifin Habibie as quoted by Antara.

The bulk of the output, about 30 MW-peak (MWp) will be allocated for export markets particularly in Asia Pacific, while 14 MWp to be absorbed by Sunseap Enterprises, and the remainder to be absorbed by LEN and its subsidiaries.

Arifin said that the production is expected to start this year. (*)
