LG Director Alex Cho to join Mercuria

Director of LG International Indonesia, Alex Cho has resigned and will join Switzerland energy trader Mercuria Energy Group?s Indonesian operation, starting early next year, an industrial source told Petromindo.Com.

Alex Cho has over 12 years experience in energy sector in Indonesia. LG International Indonesia through its Indonesian unit PT Batubara Global Energy has two coal mines PT Mega Prima Persada (MPP) in Kutai Kartanegara regency, East Kalimantan, and PT Tutui Batubara Utama in East Barito regency, Central Kalimantan.

Alex Cho will report directly to Indonesia?s country representative Emanuele Novi.

Mercuria Energy is growing its trading activity in Indonesia, especially of coal, through its Singapore-based Mercuria Energy Trading Pte Ltd. It plans to start coal production on its East Kalimantan coal mine PT Kalimantan Energi Lestari (KEL) in January 2012.

The mine is expecting to produce 1 million tonnes of coal in the first year and will ramp up to 3 million tonnes per year within the next couple of years. (denny)
