Lhokseumawe demands greater oil, gas revenue

Monday, March 11 2002 - 01:47 AM WIB

The Lhokseumawe mayoralty administration in Aceh demanded a greater share of revenue from oil and gas resources in the province, the local Serambi Indonesia daily said.

The paper quoted Lhokseumawe Mayor Rachmatsyah as saying that the revenue for the mayoralty should be separated from the revenue portion of the North Aceh regency.

Although Lhokseumawe is not an oil and gas producing area, oil and gas firms placed their offices and marketing centers in the town.

He said that the mayoralty expected the provincial administration to consider the demand.(*)
