Listrik Vine plans to build solar power plants in Papua, other regions

Private power company PT Listrik Vine Industri plans to develop solar power plants (PLTS) in 1,000 villages in Indonesia, starting with a 1 MW plants in Papua Province this year.

?We have commitment to develop PLTS in 10 villages first. We can do it in one year with total capacity of 1 MW only in Papua,? said Hengki Monim, Operation Manager of Listrik Vine to Kontan on Tuesday.

He said that the company is also waiting for permits for similar projects in other regions including Musi Banyuasin (South Sumatra province), Mahakam Hulu (East Kalimantan province), and East Nusa Tenggara province.

Hengki said that the company will deploy foot print-based technology in the solar power plant projects, which is considered suitable for regions with poor infrastructure facilities and does not require huge plot of land.

He estimated that investment requirement per village is about US$3 million. (*)
