LNG from Tangguh arrives in Sempra

The first LNG cargo shipped from Tangguh LNG plant in West Papua has arrived in the LNG terminal in Baja California, Mexico owned by Sempra LNG, upstream oil, gas regulator BPMIGAS?s official said.

?The LNG cargo has arrived in Mexico,? BPMIGAS spokesperson Amir Hamzah told Petromindo.com on Wednesday without give further details.

An LNG cargo was shipped in the middle of August from Tangguh.

Including the delivery to Sempra, the newly-built Tangguh has sent three cargoes of LNG. In July, it sent one cargo to the LNG terminal in Fujian, China owned by CNOOC and another cargo to the LNG terminal in Gwangyang, South Korea owned by giant steel producer POSCO.

The BP Plc-led consortium which owns the Tangguh LNG plant has rescheduled of the LNG shipment due to problems at Tangguh's two production units. Due to the problems, BP has said Tangguh would only ship 16 cargoes of LNG to its customers, down from the initial plan of 56 cargos.

BP has signed a 20-year agreement with Korean companies POSCO and K-Power for a total supply of 1.15 million tons of LNG per year.

The consortium has also signed a 25-year contract to supply 2.6 million tons per year of LNG to Fujian terminal; and a flexible contract to supply up to 3.7 million tons of LNG per year to the Sempra LNG terminal. (godang)
