Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro said that Indonesia has formally informed Japanese buyers about plans to reschedule the shipment of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from the Aceh-based Arun LNG plant for the rest of this year until 2005 due to the decline in the LNG plant's production, Investors Daily reported on Friday.
"The rescheduling of the LNG shipment to Japan is being discussed," the minister said, adding that the Japanese buyers had yet to give a response to the rescheduling proposal.
The minister said that the Arun would need at least six cargoes, each with a capacity of 55,000 tons, to meet its export contracts with its Korean and Japanese buyers, this year. "The Korean buyers had agreed to cut the shipment by three cargoes, and we hoped the Japanese would also do the same for the other three cargos," he added. (*)
