Local firm PT Triaryani, Japanese firms to develop power plant

A local firm called PT Triaryani and a consortium of Japanese companies plan to develop a coal fired power plant in Musi Rawas, South Sumatra, the Bisnis Indonesia daily reported on Friday.

The paper quoted Triaryani president Teddy Setiawan as saying that the power would be sold to state-owned electricity company PT PLN at a low price of around US$0.04 pwer kWh.

The Japanese consortium among others consists of Sojitz (a company resulting from the merger of Nissho Iwai and Nichimen), Kobe Steel, Babcock Hitachi, and Nippon Koei Ltd.

"We are now doing the feasibility study and expects to finish it by March 2005," he said.(*)
