Local administrations in various mining regions in the country have revoked hundreds of IUP mining business permits as the companies do not have proper administrative and documentation requirements under the so-called clean and clear (C&C) ruling.
Director General of Mineral and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) R. Sukhyar said that as of September 12, a total of 292 IUP mining business permits have been revoked by local administrations.
?The number is likely to increase,? he told reporters Friday.
According to data from the MEMR, there are a total of 10,818 IUP mining permits, of which 5,966 have been declared as C&C, while the remaining 4,852 have yet to obtain the C&C status.
Local governments which have revoked the IUP mining permits include in Bangka Belitung (8 IUPs), Jambi (152IUPs), South Sumatra (17 IUPs), West Kalimantan (11 IUPs), Central Sulawesi (85 IUPs), and North Maluku (6 IUPs). (*)
