Local govt revokes permits of two gold miners in Aceh

The Nagan Raya Regency Administration in Aceh has revoked the exploration permits of two gold miners in Beutong District as there hasn?t been any activity at the mine sites, and the two miners have failed to submit the required report to the administration, local news reports said Tuesday.

The two miners are PT Yakin Timber Jaya and PT Megatama Abadi Sentosa, which each holds a 10,000 hectares gold mining concession in the regency.

?Prior to revoking the exploration permits, the Nagan Raya administration has already sent letters three times to the companies. But until now, there has been any response,? said Head of the mining office at the regency administration, Samsul Kamal, while adding that the exploration permits are about to expire end of this year.

Regent Zulkarnaini has earlier warned local miners to carry out proper mining activities or their permits would be revoked. ?What?s the point of having permit but no activities are being carried out,? he said. (*)
