Regency administrations in three provinces including South Sumatra, Jambi, and Central Sulawesi have revoked 330 problematic IUP mining permits as of June 30 of this year, Kontan reported on Thursday.

The paper quoted Paul Lubis, Director for Coal and Mineral Program at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, as saying that the particular IUPs have been saddled with various problems including overlapping issue.

He said that the move by the local administrations is part of cooperation between the central government and provincial governments to push for cleaning up the so-called ?non-clean and clear? mining permits issued by regency administrations in the past.

Paul said that the government is giving regency administrations until end of this year to submit reports on the reconciliation of the non-clean and clear IUP mining permits in their respective regions. (*)
