Local regent criticizes Exspan for doing little to improve people?s live

Oil and gas firm PT Exspan Nusantara, a subsidiary of Medco Energy International, which has operation in the Musi Banyuasin regency in South Sumatra, has been criticized by the local regent for doing little to help improve the livelihood of the local people.

The local Sriwijaya Post daily quoted Regent Alex Noerdin as saying that although Exspan had been able to produce 68,000 barrel of oil per day, many of the people living nearby its operation in Lais district were still in poverty.

Alex was speaking during a presentation by Exspan top officials on the company?s local operation.

Alex urged Exspan to do more in improving the livelihood of the local people.(*)
