Australia-listed firm Lion Energy Ltd said that the LOFIN-1 exploration well on Seram Island in eastern Indonesia has been successfully sidetracked and the LOFIN-1 ST wellbore has reached a depth of 4,168 meters (13,676 feet) MD.
The company said in a statement obtained by Petromindo.com Thursday that current operations include continuing to drill out float shoe, drilling approximately 10 feet and performing a Formation Integrity Test (FIT) prior to drilling ahead to the primary target, the Manusela Formation, which is expected to be at 4,197-4221 meters
The LOFIN-1 prospect is a thrust fold four-way dip closure anticline, which is located approximately 56 kilometres to the west of the producing Oseil oilfield that has produced in excess of 10 million barrels of crude oil since production start-up in late 2002.
The LOFIN prospect is identified by 2D seismic lines.
The primary target, the Manusela Carbonate, is interpreted to be similar in reservoir characteristics to the Oseil oilfield reservoir. The vertical closure of the LOFIN prospect as mapped is in excess of 550 meters (1,800 feet) from the crest to the lowest closing contour .
