Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supplies from the state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina’s exploration site at Balongan, Indramayu in West Java have gradually returned to normal, Antara news agency reported on Thursday.

“Due to the overhaul of LPG exploration equipment in Balongan early this month, the LPG supplies to West Java were stopped. Since the overhaul has already been completed, the supplies to the market have returned to normal,” Suhermanto, chief of the company’s marketing unit III in West Java, said in Bandung on Thursday.

“Our program at this moment is to flood the market with LPG in excess of demand. In West Java alone, we will supply 300 to 350 tons of LPG per day despite the fact that the province consumes an average of 250 to 270 tons of LPG per day,” Suhermanto said.

By doing so, the retail price of LPG would return to normal and distributors would have no chance to hoard LPG due to abundant supplies, he said. (*)
