Luhut dissolves ad hoc units at ministry

The decision was made as part of efficiency measure.
The units that have been dissolved are among others the Team for the Acceleration of Renewable Energy Development (P2EBT) led by Willy Syahbandar and the Unit for the Implementation of National Electricity Development (UP3KN) which is headed by Nur Pamudji and the National Exploration Committee (KEN) headed by Andang Bachtiar, Detik reported on Wednesday.
Luhut said the main purpose of the move is to make the organization of the ministry slimmer.
He considers all functions that have been performed by the units can be handled by the ministry?s directorates general. For instance, the function of UP3KN can be handled by the Directorate General of Electricity, while the functions of P2EBT can be handled by the Directorate General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE).
?We return to the existing structure. The organization already has its own structure. If it (the structure) is not good enough, we shall make it better. If the people are not good, we shall replace them with good ones. If we create ad hoc teams, it will only increase the costs,? Luhut said.
?Keep the existing organization. Don?t create an inefficient organization. Who is going to pay the salaries? I want a simple organization. I don?t expect a problem to occur at the time it is audited,? he added.
He said a decree is being formulated as a legal basis for the dissolution of the ad hoc units. (*)
