Lukman Mahfoedz elected as 2013 IPA President

Lukman Mahfoedz, President Director of PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk, has been elected by members of the Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA) as the 2013 president of IPA.
"IPA members have elected Mahfoedz as its next year president,? IPA 2012 President Elisabeth Prouz of Total Indonesie said when presenting an IPA year-end review on Wednesday.
She noted that Jeff Shellebarger of Chevron Indonesia Company and Richar Owen of ExxonMobil were appointed as director/alternate officer IPA.
Muhammad Husen of Pertamina, Erec S.Isaacson of Conocophillips Indonesia Inc, Carlo Vito Russo of ENI Indonesia ltd, Shunichiro Sugaya of Inpex Corp, Marjolijn Wajong of Santos (Sampang) PTY Ltd, and Craig Stewart of Salamander were appointed as directors of IPA 2013.
Elisabeth Proust of Total EP Indonesie, Sammy Hamzah of Ephindo Energy PTE Ltd, William Lin of BP Indonesia, Roberto Lorato of Premier Oil Indonesia become officers of IPA 2013.
Elisabeth Prouz, former president of IPA 2012, said that IPA that had been existing in Indonesia for 41 years, needed a long time stability.
Lukman Mahfoedz, as president of IPA 2013, said that he hoped all oil and gas investments should be based on three Cs, namely clarity, consistency, and certainty.
?The other things can be managed. Therefore, we hope that the amendment of the oil and gas law should be conducted on the basis of respect to the sanctity of contract. We have to respect the contracts that we?ve agreed,? he said.
He noted that one thing that should not be forgotten was that Indonesia is the first country in the world to introduce the production sharing contract (PSC). ?We hope that the problem on the dismissal of BPMIGAS can be tackled well, so that we can attract more investors. All members hope that work programs and budgets can be finalized at the end of this year. We heard from the minister and vice minister that they will guarantee the process will be made faster,? he said.
