Lumintu Energy said on Wednesday it has entered into a strategic collaboration with Indian consultancy firm Intercontinental Consultants and Technocrats Pvt. Ltd. (ICT) to pursue electricity infrastructure opportunities in Malaysia and Indonesia, as it seeks to expand its footprint in Southeast Asia’s fast-growing power markets.

The partnership will combine Lumintu Energy’s regional project development and execution capabilities with ICT’s engineering, consulting and infrastructure advisory expertise, the companies said in a statement. The two firms plan to jointly develop projects across transmission and grid infrastructure, high-voltage substations, renewable energy integration and battery energy storage systems, as well as power solutions for data centres and other digital economy assets.

Both Malaysia and Indonesia are ramping up investments in electricity infrastructure amid rising demand driven by urbanisation, industrial growth and the expansion of energy-intensive digital infrastructure. In Malaysia, national utility Tenaga Nasional Berhad is investing in grid upgrades and renewable integration, creating opportunities in transmission and substation development, particularly in the southern corridor where data centre activity is increasing.

In Indonesia, state utility PT PLN (Persero) is undertaking large-scale programmes to expand transmission networks and integrate renewable energy sources across the archipelago, opening opportunities in grid infrastructure, storage systems and power supply for industrial zones.

Lumintu Energy said the collaboration would strengthen its ability to deliver end-to-end infrastructure solutions and compete for large-scale projects, while supporting its strategy to build a regional platform in the electricity sector.

Lumintu Energy is a Southeast Asia-focused energy infrastructure developer with activities spanning grid development, renewable integration and energy storage, and has been seeking to grow its presence through partnerships as demand for reliable and low-carbon power systems accelerates across the region.
