Lundin sees W. Papua oil discovery to come onstream H2 2009

Swedish independent oil company Lundin Petroleum reported Wednesday that South East Walio-1 discovery well in Salawati Basin PSC onshore West Papua would be brought into production in the second half on 2009.

The company said the well could produce additional 2,000 BPD of oil for the block as it is close to infrastructure.

According to Lundin, the initial estimates of the size of the discovery are 10-15 MMboe gross.

The well was discovered in 2008.

The company said two appraisal wells will be drilled in 2009.

Lundin has 25.936% interest in the block with operator PetroChina, PEARL Oil and state oil, gas company PT.Pertamina having 30%, 34% and 10%, respectively. (alex)
