Swedish oil gas firm Lundin Petroleum plans to drill two wells in the Cendrawasih VII (CVII) block offshore Papua in the end of 2015 or the beginning of 2016
"We are very aggressive to drill two exploration wells on the CVII block because we already have the 3D data," Lundin's Exploration Manager Batara Simanjuntak told Petromindo.com.
He claimed the block has huge oil and gas potential resources, but the risk is high, given the fact it is located in the northern part of Papua.
"The northern part of Papua has never been tested before. We will most likely be the first company to test the hydrocarbon system there. So if the exploration is successful, then it will attract a lot of exploration drillings to the area," he explained.
The firm holds a 100 percent interest in the CVII block PSC through its subsidiary Lundin Sareba BV. Currently Lundin Petroleum is in the process of farming out up to 49 percent of its interest in the block.
