Pertamina-controlled French oil, gas firm Maurel & Prom (M&P)said on Tuesday it has successfully drilled and tested a gas well in Gabon, marking a milestone in its efforts to expand into gas production.
The company said the Mouletsi-2 well, located on the Etekamba gas permit, was completed at the end of February with tests indicating a production potential of around 25 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d).
The well represents Maurel & Prom’s first gas discovery in Gabon, as the company seeks to diversify its portfolio beyond oil.

The project is expected to support Gabon’s domestic power development, with plans to bring the field into production by the end of 2026.
The company said the successful drilling aligns with its broader strategy to expand gas operations while contributing to local energy supply.
