Maduchon to start S. Sumatra coal production in 2011

PT Maduchon Indonesia, an Indonesian coal unit of Indian firm Madhucon Projects Limited said that it is currently building 30 kilometers haul road and jetty river port near Palembang, South Sumatra.

The company is expected to start commercial production by first semester of 2011, the company official told Petromindo.com last week. Earlier, the company said the first commercial production will be in December 2010.

The mine is located in Dawas, South Sumatra.

Madhucon, through its subsidiary is setting up 1,920 MW power plants in Andhra Pradesh in three phases. The second phase of 300 MW has just reached financial closure with operations seen to commence in 2012. The third phase will involve development of 2x660MW power plant.

Coal for the power project would be sourced from Madhucon Indonesia. (denny)
