Gas production at Total-operated Mahakam PSC block in East Kalimantan is down by almost 1 billion cubic feet per (BCFD) day due to scheduled turnaround and rig move at two fields, an official with upstream oil, gas authority BPMIGAS said on Thursday.
Spokesperson Gde Pradnyana told Petromindo.Com that gas production was temporarily reduced due to turnaround at Tunu field and rig move at Sisi Nubi field.
According to Total E&P Indonesie?s earlier presentation, Mahakam block produced 2.4 BCFD of gas from January to May 2011.
Gde did not say when production will return to normal. He, however, said that turnaround at Tunu has been taken place since early June and will be conducted in stages until end of July.
Mahakam PSC is the biggest gas supplier to Bontang LNG plant.
The French company is the block operator with 50 percent interest with the balance held by Japan?s Inpex Corp.(godang)
