Major indonesian coal producers are still open for spot buyers until the end of the year as demand from existing buyers have dropped due to the global economic recession.

Petromindo source said that companies like Berau Coal, Kideco Jaya Agung and Indo Tambangraya Megah (ITM), Indonesian unit of Thai giant Banpu, still offer spot cargo allocations for reliable buyers, which is unlike 2011 and early 2012 where major producers were tied by coal supply contracts.

Berau Coal's Sungkai Normal Sulhpur product, with 5,000 kcal/kg (GAR) cv and below 1% total sulhpur are available for spot, as well as Kideco's Roto South (RS) coal 4,600 (NAR) cv and 0.1% total sulphur and ITM's high cv product with over 1% sulphur.

Berau Coal has revised down its output target from 23 million tons to 21 million tons this year, while both Kideco and ITM's targets are fixed at 34 million tons and 25 million tons respectively.
