Makassar Strait's deepwater project to start production in 2014

The Indonesian Deepwater Development (IDD) integrated poject, which covers four oil and gas blocks in Makassar Strait, is expected to start production in the third quarter of 2014, a senior official at oil and gas upstream sector regulator BPMIGAS said on Friday.

First output of the project will come from the Bangka field which wiill produce 120 MMSCFD of gas and 2,880 barrels per day (bpd) of condensate, Renadi Soedigdo, head of supervision and control of the project at BPMIGAS, said on Friday.

It will be followed by production by Gendalo, Gehem, Maha and Gandang fields in 2016 which will produce a combined 1,120 mmcfd of gas and 55,000 bpd of condensate, Renadi said.

The project, which is 80 percent owned by US firm Chevron Corporation and 20 percent by Italian firm Eni, covers four PSC blocks that is Muara Bakau, Makassar Strait, Ganal, and Rapa. The Front End Engineering Design (FEED) of the project is in progress. (Bernard)
