PT Makmur Wisesa Sejahtera (MSW), a subsidiary of PT Adaro Energy Tbk, is building a coal-fired power plant located at Adaro?s coal mine in Tabalong regency, South Kalimantan, Investor Daily reported

The coal-fired power plant, which will have capacity of 2 x 30 megawatt (MW), will replace a diesel power generator currently being used by Adaro in order to reduce the high operating costs as the result of the use of diesel fuel.

The power plant, which will need about 52 tons of coal per hour for its two boilers, will use raw water from PT Adaro with a capacity of 350 cubic meters per hour. The water will be first processed by a water treatment plant before being supplied to the plant boilers.

At present, the power plant has been 90 percent completed. The first unit of the power plant is scheduled for commercial operation in September this year, and the second unit in March. Besides for own use, part of the electricity production will be sold to state owned electricity company PLN. (*)
