Malaysia?s Serawak Electricity Supply Corporation (Sesco) is expected to continue increase power supply to West Kalimantan Province next year to 230 MW, according to an official at Indonesia?s state-owned electricity firm PT PLN.

Ricky Cahya Andrian, a manager at PLN West Kalimantan branch office, said on Monday that Sesco has so far supplied 90 MW of electricity to West Kalimantan.

PLN in September 2012 signed an agreement with Sesco, under which Indonesia would import 50 MW of electricity from Serawak for West Kalimantan. Since then the power capacity purchased from Sesco has been increasing.

As part of the power purchase agreement, Indonesia will export 1,000 MW of power from Sumatra to Malaysia Peninsular. The power supply will be sourced from a 2x1,000 MW mine mouth power plant to be built in Riau, which was targeted to start operation in 2018 or 2019.

Elsewhere, aside from the Sesco supply, Ricky said that power supply in West Kalimantan will continue to increase next year with the operation of new 1x50 MW Jungkat coal-fired power plant and 1x50 MW Tiga Bengkayang coal-fired power plant, increasing the total supply to 650 MW.
