Malaysian utility firm YTL Power International Berhad had entered into a Share Sale and Purchase Agreement with Indonesian company P.T. Bumipertiwi Tatapradipta to acquire the latter?s 35 percent equity in P.T. Jawa Power, the owner of Paiton II 1,220-MW coal-fired power plant in East Java, parent company YTL Corp. announced on Monday.
YTL will buy the shares for USD139.4 million.
?The Proposed Acquisition will enable YTL Power to develop and expand its presence in utility businesses world-wide, particularly in the rapidly developing ASEAN market. The investment in Jawa Power is a good opportunity to invest in a well structured and operating asset that is past the construction stage and already generating profits,? YTL said in a statement.
YTL is set to complete the acquisition by the second half of 2004.(alex)
