Malaysian firm Zelan Holdings Bhd is bidding for another RM2 billion 600 megawatt (MW) power plant project in Central Java, after securing one of the power plant projects with similar size in Rembang, The Edge Daily reported Friday.
Zelan chief executive officer Albert Chang said the Indonesian project at Tanjung Jati was at a re-tendering stage and the company had submitted its proposal in fulfilling its request for pre-qualification in Botswana.
"We are bidding for the two projects (in Tanjung Jati and Botswana) with (China's) Dongfong Electric Corporation (DEC)," he told reporters in Kuala Lumpur on April 27 after announcing that Zelan had awarded a US$220 million (RM753.39 million) contract to DEC to supply power generation equipment for the Rembang project.
For the Rembang project, the consortium members are Zelan (15 percent), its unit Zelan Holdings (M) Sdn Bhd (55 percent) and PT Priamanaya Djan International (30 percent).
State-owned DEC, which is one of the top three turbine producers in China with an annual capacity of over 30,000MW equipment, will supply two units of boiler, turbine, and generator for the Rembang project to be commissioned in September and December 2009. (*)
