Malaysian firm eyeing E. Kalimantan power plant project

Malaysian firm Mudajaya Group Berhad announced on Friday that its wholly-owned subsidiary Mudajaya Corporation Berhad (MJC) has entered into an MoU on January 17, 2008 with Indonesian firm PT Permata Kaltim (PK) to form JV to participate in the independent power plant project 4 x 65MW in Samarinda,, East Kalimantan. MJC and PK will hold equity interest of 90% and 10% respectively in the JV.
Under the MoU, PK will secure coal supply for the project and to clinch power purchasing agreement with state electricity firm PLN.
The MoU will be valid for one year. (alex)
