Malaysian firm to build US$1b power plant in Central Java

Aquasis Construction Engineering Sdn Bhd of Malaysia plans to build a coal-fired power plant with a capacity of about 1,300 MW in Karanganyar regency, Central Java, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Tuesday.
Solichedi, the chairman of the local chapter of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), said in Semarang on Monday that the Malaysian company's plan to build the power plant had received a full support from the local Kadin.
According to him, the planned power plant which would use the Indian technology would cost about US$1.04 billion to build.
He said that the local Kadin had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Malaysian company to help the latter in seeking for the permits and prepare the construction of the power plant. (*)
