East Kalimantan coal miner PT Mandiri Intiperkasa is on track to meet its coal production target of 4 million tonnes this year, the company?s official told Petromindo.Com on Thursday.

As of June of this year, Mandiri had produced half of its target, the official said, adding that last year the company produced 3.3 million tonnes.

The official said all its coal for this year?s production has been signed up with buyers. ?Many parties are requesting for our coal,? the official said. At present, the firm exports all its coal.

The company is now joining the bid for a 3-year contract to supply coal to the power plant in East Java owned by Paiton Energy. The winner of the tender will supply 110,000 tonnes per month to Paiton. ?Hopefully, we will win,? the official added.

The firm has a second generation CCoW on a mine located in Nunukan and Tanah Tidung regency. The calorific value of the coal is 5,200 kcal/kg (GAR).(denny)
