Coal mining firm PT Mandiri Intiperkasa, which operates coal mines in Nunukan, North Kalimantan, plans to increase production to five million tons this year from 4.5 million tons last year despite the lingering coal price drop.
Mandiri Director Herman Kasih said that the 2016 production plan has been approve by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
?Realized production last year was 4.5 million tons,? he told Petromindo.com via short messages on Monday, acknowledging that coal price is expected to remain under pressure this year.
He said that the company will continue focus on efficiency measures to help cope with the coal price downturn. While, declining to disclose capital expenditure plan for this year, Herman said that the figure will not be significant this year, mainly for replacing a number of HD trucks for overburden removal.
