Mandiri Intiperkasa to start coal production in 2004

Mandiri?s general administration manager M. Chotami said his company had targeted to finish the construction works by the end of 2003. The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) served as a consultant for the construction works.
He said the output during trial production was set at approximately 100,000 tons, while the annual output after the trial production is set at 500,000 tons.
?The output will further increase to one million tons in 2005,? he told Petromindo.Com in a telephone interview, adding that production would be commenced at the Block A of its contract area in Sesayap regency.
Mandiri?s concession area in Sesayap contains a coal reserve of around 27,170,148 tons, according to the company.

Chotami said the coal products would be transported from the mining site by a 5,000-ton barge via Krassi and Linungkayam rivers to a vessel anchored offshore Tarakan. The barge travels for about 100 kilometers from the mining site to the vessel.
?Some buyers from Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, China, and India have shown interest in our products but so far no purchase agreement has been signed,? he added. (robert)
