Marathon awarded Indonesian blocks study agreements

US oil firm Marathon Oil Corporation reported on Thursday that it had been awarded two study agreements in Indonesia and farmed into additional study agreements, which could lead to the acquisition of new leaseholds at a future lease sale.

The company did not give detail about the location of the study area.

Under the Indonesian system, Marathon might be given priority to acquire the blocks under study should the results are considered favorable.

Marathon currently operates one deepwater exploration block in Makassar Strait called Pasang Kayu.(alex)
