Market overview from globalCoal for April 25

Coal markets dipped lower today, with July DES AR tonnes bid at $94.45/t, down from yesterday's best bid of $95.50/t. In the physical Newcastle market, June loading tonnes changed hands at $100.25/t FOB, having been offered $1/t higher during yesterday's session. Paper markets fell in line with physical, with all three major hubs shedding around $1.10-1.20/t from their respective Cal 13 contracts. Oil was fairly unchanged near close of play, with front month Brent crude sitting at $118.05/bbl, while the pound weakened as the UK officially returned to recession.

Phys NEWC is continuing its downward trend with the best offer for June shown on screen at $100.75, a decrease of 50c compare to yesterday's best offer. Prompt bids for FOB Phys NEWC and RB1 are all below $100.00/mt. There is also rumours of May'12 RB1 specs going to South China at around $113.00 CFR basis.
