Market overview from globalCoal for August 24

Coal markets saw minimal volatility today with physical coal pricing at similar levels to the previous few days. In early trading coal lost ground on yesterday's levels as some early selling eroded physical values. Paper markets again took their lead from external markets and with oil gaining through the afternoon we saw a small recovery for paper to end the day marginally higher by $0.20 across the board for both paper and physical markets.

Bid prices increase marginally today in Oct'11 to $ 120.25 for Phys NEWC. November was $ 121.75/$123.00 during Asian hours as well. Rumours that the Chinese are starting to make some inquiries with regards to supply in the prompt from both Indonesian and Australia are starting to emerge. However, the bid prices are still lower than seller's expectations. (*)
