Market overview from globalCoal for February 13

Today saw a quiet start to the week in the physical market, with value inching off slightly in the process. April Richards Bay was offered at $103.00/t FOB - ten cents lower than Friday's traded level, while Mar tonnes were heard trading fairly flat to Friday's level also. Paper tracked lower across the API2 and API4 Cal 13 contracts, losing around $0.65/t and $0.30/t respectively. Conversely, oil posted gains, with front month Brent crude up $1.00/bbl near close of play to sit at $118.31/bbl.

After a quiet start to the day, a June loading panamax of phys newc traded at +$0.75/mt. The weather condition in Australia seems to be improving and so far no reports of cyclones in Queensland. On the demand side, a prompt 5300NAR Indo cargo destined for China was heard trading at about $86/mt FOB.
