Market overview from globalCoal for January 24

Physical markets remained subdued today, with levels fairly unchanged day-on-day. March Richards Bay tonnes were bid at $105.50/t FOB - down $0.25/t from yesterday's traded level, while April DES AR was bid to $104/t DES AR, and March to $103/t DES AR, versus yesterday's best bid of $102.50/t DES AR. Paper contracts saw gains today, with Cal 12 API2 and API4 up around $1.25/t and $1.00/t respectively. Conversely, oil posted a slight loss, with front month Brent sliding $0.44/bbl near close of play to sit at $110.14/bbl.

Muted RB interest ex India with bids ~ $105.00/mt for Feb being shown. With the onset of CNY the Indo market was quiet as well with 53/51 adb TM:39/41 around $45/mt, 4200 gar at $52/mt, 5000 gar at $74~75/mt & 4600 gar at ~ $62 levels being shown.
