Market overview from globalCoal for March 23

Saturday, March 24 2012 - 12:50 AM WIB

A quiet week ended with a quiet Friday as coal markets again failed to show signs of much life. Values drifted lower with reasonable supply in the ARA market helping to erode values. Coal largely ignored external factors today, highlighted by Brent oil trading markedly higher at ~$125/bbl, up by nearly ~$1.85/bbl on the day.

Activity in the physical newc market remains muted. Bids were shown at $105/mt for June delivery but offers were nowhere close for any deal to be done. Elsewhere things were equally slow moving as it is a public holiday for Indonesia and some parts of India.
