Market overview from globalCoal for March 30

Value ticked higher today, with front end paper contract s firming by around $1.50/t, while the cal 13 contracts saw nearer $0.75/t added. In the physical market, May Richards Bay tonnes changed hands at $104/t FOB and $104.25/ FOB - having been offered at $104/t FOB yesterday. Il markets also gained today, with front month Brent up $0.66/bbl near close of play to sit at $123.05/bbl.

Market may find some direction in Asia with several market participants speculating that Long Term Contracts between Australian producers and Japanese consumers has been settled at ~$115. Chinese interest has been on the rise in recent weeks, with bids and offers for 5500nar material at 103.50 to 104.50 in Asian hours for CFR South China ports. Korean tenders have been well offered, and the Indian market still remains sluggish.
