Market overview from globalCoal for November 25
Saturday, November 26 2011 - 02:33 AM WIB
Value drifted yet again today, with January Richards Bay tonnes heard trading at $101/t, lower than yesterday's best offer. January DES tonnes were offered down to $109.75/t - compared to yesterday's deal at $111.65 for the same terms. Paper lost around $1.50/t on all hubs for Cal 12 contracts, as oil followed suit, with front month Brent crude shedding $1.41/bbl to sit at $106.37/bbl near end of play.
Softening of the RB market will inevitably exert further downward pressure on the Newc. The premium between RB/Newc is now about $11-12/mt, up from $7/mt a week ago. During Asian trading hours, Feb'12 Newc was offered at $110 (a dollar less than yesterday's best offer) with the only bid coming in at $108/mt. (*)
