Thursday, October 6 2011 - 01:30 AM WIB

Global markets enjoyed a more upbeat session today on the back of positive US economic data plus welcome news that EU finance ministers are co-ordinating a new rescue package for banks. Financial coal values gained around $0.50 down the curve across the three main indices. However, the physical market remains thin and uncertain as to long term direction. Meanwhile, front month Brent crude recovered to end the day (@ 17:00) up $2.30 at ~102.10/bbl.

Prices of South African coal falling sub 110 levels for 2 H October has had a bearish sentiment in the market, while Indo prices reported for gcv 53/51 adb with TM 39/41 at $49/mt, 4200 gar at $57/mt and 4700 gar at around 70-71. The end-user's consumption pattern of coal is substantially reduced due to market situation viz low demand for cement, sponge iron and steel compounded by tight liquidity in India. (*)
