Market overview from globalCoal for September 22

Friday, September 23 2011 - 12:56 AM WIB

A fairly quiet session saw December DES trade at $122.50/t and $122.40/t, down from yesterday's best bid of $123.00/t. Richards Bay values also fell, with November tonnes heard trading at $114.70/t, and offered lower by close of play. Global growth fears caused other energy and equity markets to suffer heavy losses today, with front month Brent crude tumbling $4.45/bbl by 17:04 BST to sit at $105.91/bbl, while the FTSE 100 saw a 246 point drop (4.67%).

Subdued spot purchases reported out of India for low GCV Indo coal so far this week, with high CV (63/61 adb) coal getting some traction in the market attributed to some direct end-user buying activity while an Oct. RB1 cargo in 75 kt changed hands this week at $ 112.25/mt (*)
